Leather soles and cut out design to vamp. CC41 stamped inside shoe The CC41 wartime mark also known as the Utility mark, was an identifying symbol for products produced under the British Government Utility Clothing Scheme. This meant that the item could be  sold as tax free as it met the standards of the Governments Utility regulations. The symbol was applied  to various goods including clothing, footwear, and furniture. The CC stood for Civilian Clothing and the 41 referred to the year it was introduced.
